No, he won't. Played three matches for Valencia in CL, so he's ineligibile for any other team in this years european cup. Tough luck though, you would've needed him.

lol OWNED

Apparently he can play in the UEFA, he's only cup tied in the CL. You can not play in the same competition, but you can sign one player who has played in the other competition. they were talkin about berbatov and anelka going to chelsea or united and if they could be played as they have both played in uefa, and it said that they can. Last year Liverpool were aloud to play Mascherano in the CL after he had already played for West Ham in the UEFA. You have to apply for it from UEFA as you can only have one player who has played in the other competition.

rumour is now everton re-signing Manuel Fernandes from Valencia on loan. If it happens he will be eligibile to play against Brann... would be great news foe Everton.. last season he was one of our best players and scored some great goals especially against Man utd.

well we are building a young side one for the future, our acadamey produced Wayen Rooney who we sold for 30 million to man utd, we brought Francis Jeffers who we sold to Arsenal and Michael Ball who went to Rangers and now Man City... we currently have two young strikers who have both scored in Uefa Cup this season 19 years old, so i dont think we need a 30 year old striker. Age isnt on his side.

i forgot to mention an English newspaper yesterday wrote this

'Everton are watching 30-year-old striker Thorstein Helstad, who plays for Norwegian side Brann. (Telegraph)'

however i do not believe we want him now as he is too old for us as a striker.

Quote from: "sydnes76"I use some of my spare time in here. Always interested in news about Brann and maybe some rumors. But you, md49vd, you spend pretty much the same amount of time in here as me and you are supposed to be an Everton supporter. Do you have a life outside football? You are really pathetic. I feel sorry for you. What about woman, friends, other interests? Nothing? Get a life. And to all you other Brann supporters, please stop this riddicoulus arguing with this clown. I think this is the last time I visit this thread. I admit I am a bit drunk after dinner with some friends, but I stand for every word: Dont make this your life :)

lol i dunno how busy your forums are but in england the everton forum is very busy, practically our life. I spend alot of time there, i have 9000 posts in a just 1 year already. Anyways i do have life outside of football i go to University. I have friends but no woman unfortunately. I have a life :)

Quote from: "Stoffi"I'll say it again, both our central midfielders played CL semi finals.

Helstad would be good enough for any team below top 4. And for the record, top 4 is 50 miles ahead of the rest of the teams, though the point doesn't show it yet.

md49vd, you only proved my point. Everton is like a jojo. 6th one year, 13th the next year.

Absolutely a team Brann can beat.

interesting you say that, i been reading about Brann's Manager

'Mons Ivar Mjelde - In January 2003, after only one year's experience as a coach, Mons Ivar Mjelde was appointed head coach in SK Brann. The following season, Mjelde led Brann to a number 6 position in the premiership. The year after he led the club to a bronze medal in the premiership and cup victory, Brann's first trophy in 22 years. The 2005 season, however, was a big disappointment. The objective was premiership gold and a new cup final, but Brann only managed a number 6 position in the Tippeligaen and was eliminated in the cup quarter final. Even if the 2006 season looks to be a glory one, Mjelde is still much criticized in the press and among the fans for his lack of tactical skills. Spending a lot and never giving up his "happy-go-lucky" attitude surly makes him a controversial coach.

In 2007, his coaching career hit new heights when he took Brann to their first league title in 44 years.

surely this is like Everton then if everton go up and down, Brann are up and down in last couple of seasons too?

i do not under estimate brann

for instance
Brann Leauge winners 2007, where Rosenborg, who won their 2 matches against Valencia and played 1-1 with Chelsea at Stamford Birdge placed 6th. - They have former Leeds star Eirik Bakke on their team. - They got one of our transfer targets, Thorstein Helstad as their top goal scorer this season, with 22 goals in the leauge. - In 1996(98?) they played against Liverpool in the European Supercup. As Liverpool is a big team in Norway, many of the Brann supportes had Liverpool kits and scarfs with them at Anfield. - They have Hassan El-Fakiri, former Monaco player, (played there in the season when they lost to Porto in the Champs Leauge final) - They have the Norwegian National team player Håkon Opdal as their goalkeeper. He is a hot transfer targets for clubs all over Europe. - They have Erik Huseklepp on the wing, who was targeted by Sven Gøran Eriksson and Mancherster City. The Norwegian national team Captain left SK Brann in December 2007 (this year), on the Bosman Rule, to join Vålerenga, as a playing Manager. - They have two Iclandic Center defenders who both played for Iceland national team in their Euro 2008 qualifying matches, against teams like Spain.

Brann have managed to advance in the UEFA cup with almost a B-team. When Everton meet them in February Brann will be a much better team, new players, fit players and motivated players. Although Everton is a great team, it's important for the players to prepare as though they were meeting Chelsea FC. Rosenborg, the other Norwegian team are currently in a crisis, they can't manage to provide a decent coach, and the players are extremely unmotivated, according to Norwegian Media. Bottom line: Brann is a godd team(better the Rosenborg)!!

i cant wait for this game and wish it could be played now but we have to wait unfortunately

i do know about norwegian football. And if English football isnt the best its still 2nd best.. and EXPERTS at UEFA say norway is only 18th best.

therefore norway football is shit in comparison to english

not my opinion. UEFA's opinion. And i think UEFA knows alot more than anybody.

in england the game is on at 5:15pm and is the only game on in the Premiership at that time so you should be able to watch it in any pub that shows Premiership football

watch Everton then make a comment about them.

IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT NOW!!

YES BRANN are 2007 CHAMPIONS

BUT EVERTON ARE TEAM OF THE SEASON IN THE PREM!! yes we are 6th and so you must think how come we are team of season?? well read this then.
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/24122007/58/premier-league-parker-s-mid-season-awards.html

anyway if you know about Bill Shankly you will also know he said some very good things about Everton. He admired everton and towards the end of his life he said better things about everton than he did about liverpool.

rosenborg win 5-3 on Agg.

also rosenborg win the norwegian league 12 times in a row or something...

no offence the only team that might be able to do well in the Prem is Rosenborg and even then not even top 10

the other teams would be relegation or fight relegationn even Brann. So do  not think you can survive in Premiership. Pre-season friendly.... think the clue is in the word Friendly.

Think I might just have wet myself after that last, big, confident comment: "you see i done my homework ;)... by the way great 3-0 victory at Rosenborg stadium."

3 errors in 1 sentence...I bow to you ;)

EDIT: It's also funny how you mention that we suck because we finished below top 3 in the 77-96 period (as you probably know we're champions now?), while Everton is the best now because they have gone from a lower table team to a top 10 team during the 90's...

1. i didnt say you sucked because of that FACT
2. No they are not the best now. We are good side now but we were the best in the 80's. We won Cups, Leagues, European Trophies. Even Brann has never won a european trophy. We have won the top league 9 times compared to 3 for Brann.

ok i admit i read result wrong but i dont have it written out in plain to see i just interpret it wrong see..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tippeligaen_2007

but i see you lost away 6-0, 3-0, 3-0, 3-1 so you still have bad defence away from home.

and Nightfox you say Everton was easiest team you could have played...well guess what Everton only 1 out of 2 teams in Uefa Group to win all their matches, and guess what Everton are 4th best team in uefa cup according to bookmakers and the press.

and you say English league is now not the best.. well its the most watched legaue in the whole world and is ranked 2nd FACT.. what you are saying is ALL opinion. FIGHT the facts not opinions.

and also 26 matches!! SO WHAT?? OH MY GOD Are you stupid.. if a team plays only 26 matches there is less chance of injuries... less games... less work... less suspensions possibly compared to 38 GAMES!!

you play 38 GAMES in the prem and you see how good you are.

also i see you avoided the big 10-0 question and i admire you NightFox for believing you can beat everton. But the fact is Brann are simply not good enough. Brann are good in Norway but that is it. I feel you will be the ones saying 'i cant believe how good everton are they kicked our asses'. If brann win i will support Liverpool FC that is how confident i am we will win.

And i compare Everton with the Top 4 teams because they are the best teams in the league and the world some might say and so its better to compare yourselves with the best than the worst. Everton have beaten all the teams in the bottom half of the table easily this season.

Stoffi: And, as we all know, Everton has been very unstable the last 10 years, swinging from 15th to 5th/6th(can't remember which)

Under our new manager he totally changed Everton!! end of 2001-2002 he joined Everton and saved us from relegation in the last few games he was manager

in 2002-2003 we finished 7th in the Prem
in 2003-2004 we finished 17th in the Prem
in 2004-2005 we finished 4th after selling Wayne Rooney at beginning of season- this was major shock to the world of football
in 2005-2006 we finished 11th
in 2006-2007 we finished 6th

so in three out of six seasons we finished in the top 8. Our manager has also won manager of the year twice. If you know english football you will know early 90's everton we always bottom half side, always near the bottom of the table. Now we are always at the top of the table.

just watching Brann on youtube and i come across Rosenborg 10 Brann 0 in 1996 lol... what happened.. never has everton lost 10-0 so this is crazy..

Also Premiership has 20 teams, and Norway has 14 teams!! much difference. The Norwegian Premier League is eighteenth in the UEFA rankings of European leagues based on their performances in European competitions over a five year period, behind Switzerland's Super League and ahead of Serbia's Superliga

Promoted as "The Greatest Show On Earth", the Premier League is the world's most popular and most watched sporting league, followed worldwide by over half a billion people in 202 countries. The Premiership was recently promoted to second in the UEFA rankings of European leagues based on their performances in European competitions over a five year period, behind Spain's La Liga and now above Italy's Serie A.

theres a major difference of opposition from 18th to 2nd best in the Europe.

also noticed from 1977-1996 Brann were never in the top 3... that is almost 20 years.

also Brann only play 26 games in a season, Everton play 38 games *12 more just in league alone..

you also lost 6 times, and conceded 39 goals and Odd Greenland who got relegated only conceded 43 goals , only 4 goals difference, tells me you are very good attacking but poor defending. Exposure in defence.

Also Rosenborg is the only major team i see in your league... the rest are average..like all the others.. Rosenborg always in Europe the others not really.. whereas in Prem at least 4 world class teams and 4-5 other good teams.

I notice you did not lose at home but you conceded a goal 10 out of 13 times at home..and when you kept a clean sheet it 2 of the 3 were against sides that got relegated... this is poor at home, great record in not losing but letting in goals and clean sheets is poor.

i notice away from home some heavy defeats like 4-0 against Fredrik and 5-1 to Lillestrom, you also lose to 3 of the bottom 5 sides away from home. When you lose away from home you lose badly or concede lots of goals, and when you win you win well and keep clean sheets or let 1 goal in. Your away form is dodgy very dodgy, you lose to bad teams and beat good sides. You lost all 6 games in your season away from home.

your top goalscoarer is Helstad with 22 goals, but the rest dont seem to score many goals in the season?? so basically mark helstad and we stop you scoring.. is the way to look at it.

so i dont think you can compare both teams as equal, everton have tougher league, more games to play and other factors...

using statistics because Brann have such good home record i think it will be tough going to Brann.. but Everton have played some good football this season and we have won all our European games away from home.. i can see either 2-0 everton or 1-1 at Brann.

Look at your away record it seems when you are losing you capitulate.. and i can see everton definately taking the lead and then scoring 3 or 4 more so i reckon 4 or 5-0 or possibly like 3-1, or 4-1.

you see i done my homework ;)... by the way great 3-0 victory at Rosenborg stadium.

Quote from: "md49vd"pmsl Brann will never beat Everton.. we have international players from all over the world

not just Norway haha

You are number 6 in England. You must be really something! Perhaps the best team in the world!

im sorry but 6th in the best league in the world is surely a good thing?

u mean to say you expect Everton to be better than Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea

or are you forgetting they are English teams.... all of which are in the Champions League last 32. Liverpool who won champions league few years ago and got to the final last year
Chelsea who reached quarter finals last two years
Man Utd who have won the Champions League and always in the last 32 and are always 1st or 2nd in the Premiership
Arsenal who played Barca in champs league final 2 seasons ago and always qualify

Everton are 6th... you cant really expect any higher than that unless you mean 5th... but we should get 5th in the next couple of weeks hopefully.

Number 1 in Norway is like the 10th best league in the world or something.

6th in the best league vs. 1st in the 10th best league in the world

i suspect you believe TNS who finished 1st in the Welsh League is much more of a challenge to you than Everton because TNS finished 1st in their division.

listen ok... we play very very tough sides in our league you play maybe 1 or 2 there is no comparison im afraid. Would Ballack, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Henry, Schevchenko, Torres, Cech, Fabregas, Drogba, etc... all come to the Premiership or rather play for a Norwegian team. I think that argument is finished. From memory the only famous player i know of from Norway is John Carew, Arne Riise, Solksjaer, Pedersen, Iversen, Leonardsen, Andre-Flo and Stig Inge Bjornaby and  all of them played in England.

send my regards to Erik Hagen, he will tell you Everton is a tough side, we beat his team 1-0 at Goodison Park, and they were the CHAMPIONS of RUSSIA. RUSSIA who knocked ENGLAND out of the EURO 2008... not NORWAY.

we did the same against chelsea at stamford bridge

we play exactly the same way against man utd and got a point look at stats
chelsea much better stats

Shots (on Goal)     16(10)     6(2)
Fouls    13    16
Corner Kicks    9    1
Offsides    4    1
Time of Possession    59%    41%
Yellow Cards    2    2
Red Cards    0    0
Saves    2    7

chelsea 1 everton 1

you rarely find anyside will beat man utd or chelsea away from home so we did well to nearly get a draw at both teams this season.

Quote from: "krøvel vellevold"All the talks about Everton playing equal with United, is rubbish! I've found some statistics from the game:

Man Utd - Everton:

Possession: 58-42
Shots: 19-5
Shots on goal: 11-2
Corners: 8-2

Of Evertons shots only one (the goal) were from inside the 18 yards box. The 4 others were from outside. One of them were a free kick from the the center line!

Of Man.Uniteds shots were 7 from inside the 18 yard box, and 12 from outside.

So Everton are not a team playing level with United...

sometime stats tell a different story, unless you watched the game you cannot comment, 2nd half we were defending alot and our defensive display was outstanding...hence why we deserved the point, the fact is it took manchester united an 88th minute penalty to beat Everton at their own ground. Not many teams score against Man Utd away from home.. that alone is a big achievement. At least we can score against the Champions.....of England.... we shouldnt have a problem doing the same against the Champions of Norway...

Champions of England vs. Champions of Norway.... hmm which one is tougher....

anyways Merry Christmas Brann fans.
