What is Brazil? ;-)

You know Boca is the best team in the world after Brann right?!

Nice to see that we got supporters in Brazil too. But why are you a supporter of Brann, sounds wierd to med....
Title: Why?
Post by: johnny.rhodes on November 14, 2006, 22:30:40 PM
Hahahahaha, I know it is a little strange and sounds weird, that's what everyone tells me. But football, for me, is passion, and it's not quite simple to explain. I always had large interest about Norway, its culture, music and on.
Football is a way to get this interest closer, and i first heard and became a fan about the time Norway crushed Brasil 4-2, with a great game by Flonaldo,  the hated one.

I know that Boca is the greatest on South America, but Fifa world club champion '05 São Paulo FC is just around the corner. Let's not talk about the difference on Brasil 5, Argentina 2 world cups, right? hahahahaha.

My only complaint: Umbro doesn't sell any of SK Brann material here in south america. After a great research, I found something on that other team I will not mention.

Cheers

hehe. It's funny to hear your story, and you are the first brazilian I've ever heard of that is a supporter of Brann and lives in Brazil.

The reason you havent got so many answers here on the forum yet is beacuse most of the people in Bergen don't speak og write good english, we have learning difficultys when it comes to english, don't ask why. But we are very good at "berglish", and thats good enough I hoope ;)

We have a saying here i Bergen about Brann that sounds like this in norwegian "Ekte lidenskap har et navn", if i translate it it means "real passion got a name", and we use it about our club, it's like our phrase for Brann.

You say you always had a interest in Norway, but what you don't know is that Bergen isn't in the country Norway, Bergen is a republic that has been allowed to play with it's football teams in the norwegian league. Or, manye people like to believe it's like that. We have a different saying that goes like this "I'm not from Norway, I'm from Bergen". But most people are just ironic when they say so, Bergen was in fact the first capital in Norway, and many people are proud of that.

If you can't find the Umbro shirt you shouldn't let that bug you. 1.december the new shirt for the next season is beeing launched, and the new one is from Kappa, so they will be much nicer than the Umbro shirts!

SK Brann news in english:
http://www.skbrann.org/en/

Nice to hear that we have supporters in Brazil to.
If you are not able to get hold of any Brann-supporter-stuff, you can check out Branns official store. This is where most of us buy our things: http://www.brann.no/index.php?valg=gruppe&gruppe_nr=0

There is information written in English at the bottom of the page.
There is also a contact e-mail there. The staff are very helpful, so feel free to send them mails with questons, and they probably will assist you, as well as they can.

If you are interested in buying some things, I suggest as the others have said here, to wait until Brann change from Umbro to Kappa. We have high expectations.

Maybe you should start an supportersclub?

Given that you are a Brazilian you definitely choose the right team to support, given that fans of Brann is the only club in Norway that has supporters that with some pride could say that they can compare themselves with the passion seen in Latin football. But it must have been a terrible summer for you, first Brazil was a shadow of itself in the World Cup and then Brann stumbled in race towards the championship. However, with the present form of Sao Paolo you should have something to be ecstatic about apart from the carnival season that is approaching. How is the rivalry between Sao Paolo and Corinthians? Do you throw eggs at their players like some diehard Brann fans do when our arch rival Rosenborg scores? In any case, Boca is still the greatest team in South America!!!

Funny to see someone from Brazil like Brann, but its also cool

I guess you support Sao Paulo FC, if so, I have to say you guys have an amazing support! Have seen a few movies and pictures from your team, really nice.

btw, I dont like Boca and I dont see the reason to like them (when you`re first going to support a team from Argentina).
In Argentina Im more in love with CA Independiente, River plate, Rosario Central and San Lorenzo.
Very good fanatic fans! (and nice girls)...

Title: Brazilian Beer
Post by: johnny.rhodes on November 16, 2006, 03:36:30 AM
Our Beer isn't the best in the world. I prefer our football. We have this summer, you know, and our beer is too light. I prefer caipirinha!

Yes, our rivalry over corinthians is very enraged, there is always someone at orkut choosing hour and place for fighting. And they are not our only rival! We have also Palmeiras and Santos for the rumble, hahahahaha.

If you, that lives in the country-Bergen, have problems to speak and learn english, what would you say about a brazilian trying to lear your language! I intent to travel in a couple of years to Bergen, hope that I've learned Norwegian in time and don't be embarassed.

Our national team was a shame in the world cup, the players were really scarred and didn't even returned to our country. Most of them live in Europe and there they stood.

Thanks for the good news, I never liked any uniform Umbro ever did here in Brasil, club or Seleção Canarinho. Kappa made some real beautiful uniforms for Gremio de Football Portoalegrense (do you know them?).

Haven't found any Rosenborg supporter to throw an egg on him.

There's a lot of videos about SPFC //(www.spfc.net) at youtube. But not that much on Brann, and i don't know why our tv's doesn't broadcast Brann goals and games on Tippeligaen, hahahaha...

Good idea on Brann Bataljonen Brazil, there's a fan website at New York, why not São Paulo?

Hail.

To our Brazilian friend: As you seem interested to learn about Norwegian football and the fan culture up here close to the North Pole you should know that irony is not a humour form that is easily understood among the Rosenborg fans and people from Trondheim. Thus, although I guess everyone understood that the egg issue was meant as an ironic statement given that everyone knows about the crazy conditions in Brazil and Argentina, I apologize to all the Trondheim people if it could be misunderstood.

That was an impressive bit of paddling Hocey...  (irony, my hairy white buttox)   ;-)

But anyway, Johnny, I'm sure you'll be very welcome in Bergen. It is a lovely city after all, with lovely people in it. And I'm sure they will do their best to teach you how to sing "Nystemten" and "Byen e' Bergen..." on endless repeat, throw eggs, whistle, curse loudly, give the one-fingered salute and many other things you need to know as a 'diehard' Brann fan.

He he, but I assume that these traits are already known by man used Molotov cocktails and other fans equipment. What he probably is not aware of is the jealousy from RBK supporters towards Brann. Although we have not won the championship since 1963, we definitely have more passionate supporters than the haughty people from Trondheim. Although we came as close as we have every been this year, they claim that we left the stadium 15 minutes before the closing time as we only cheer for the team when things are going our way. They have not even thought that that perhaps had something to do with the defensive move from our coach that is highly controversial in Bergen. In any case, the silence experienced on Lerkendal when things are not going RBKâ??s way is scarier than the silence felt just before a tsunami. When considering how down to earth the people from Trondheim are , maybe it is not surprising that they get really shocked by a finger or an egg, although most agree that that is not appropriate behaviour, but then again: showing feelings are something unknown to the trønders expect when highly intoxicated by homemade alcohol
Title: Brazilian fan
Post by: arntf on November 16, 2006, 13:30:03 PM
Showing feelings is a bit like relaxing your sphincter. Shit will come out...

It's true though, we Trondheimers are very down-to-earth. People fom Bergen would call us 'rural' or even 'peasants', but their city isn't even a thousand years old, so what do they know...

We keep tight control of our feelings. We know there's some murky, bad stuff, deep down in our souls, best kept away from the light of day. But the good people of Bergen, they open their souls and let it all hang out. Much to the delight and occasonal deep embarassment of the rest of Norway. They are passionate! So passionate in fact, they make rabid southern baptists look like the Amish.

That's why we can't let them win the league. If they did, Bergen would spontaneously combust and destroy half the west coast. Some people say Rosenborg are too greedy, because we win the league so often. No we're not; we're saving lives! ;-)
Title: Brazilian fan
Post by: hocey on November 16, 2006, 14:10:52 PM
I know for sure that the cultural shock would be much greater for a Brazilian arriving in Trondheim compared to the warmth he would feel when touching down on the Bergen soil although the approach towards Flesland perhaps would be a bit bumpier than flying into the airport in Trondheim as the fresh weather that keeps our souls alive does sometimes have their side effects. Image being a Brazilian arriving in Trondheim, he would perhaps be rather confused that he had taken the time machine fourteen years back to Sarajevo based on the lack of real life in the centre of Trondheim. In any way, when you put it like that, we are really glad that you guys do not show of your feelings because what is hidden behind is like you say it gloomy. Rosenborg fans share the same syndrome like the largest empires in the history: they have become lazy, greedy and arrogant and their fall will come. Besides that, it has always been enjoyable to cheer at the outsider than Goliath. But I will hand one thing to the RBK supporters: the way they envy our supporter culture makes every Brann heart even more proud.
Title: Brazilian fan
Post by: hocey on November 16, 2006, 14:36:12 PM
The fact that Mr Trønder did not take the joke about the egg throwing (to make it clear once and for all: the Brann fans are not supporting that kind of action) can be seen on RBKâ??s own supporter site where he has cut out the sentence and posted it. Irony is a skill that usually evolves in the early teens, and given that, his behaviour should perhaps be excusedâ?¦

Well the good thing about evil empires is we get Star Destroyers, Death Stars, Storm Troopers and really really cool music. You get second hand X-wings, Ewoks and Jar-Jar Binks.

Oh, we may, in the end, loose it all and go away in a great big explosion. But you guys are still stuck with Jar-Jar...

PS. Johnny. One of the side effects of Bergens lovely 'fresh weather' climate is 300mm of rain. Every year, all year...

For example, i'm going next sunday with 70.650 other brothers to scream and yell for our fourth Campeonato Brasileiro. The record of public was about  138.000. Here you can see pics of the stadium: http://www.tricolormania.com.br/morumbi/
There's about 15.000.000 SPFC Fans, here in Brasil.

I saw Brann stadion at google earth, and hope be there soon with all of you.

We are very afraid of violence from our Organizadas, I had some negative and sad experiences, most of brazilian think twice about going on a stadium with all the hate people put on our beloved football. I disagree with this stupidity, we can prove our passion without killing anyone.

I guess percipipation statistics is not your main strenght either, but what can we expect from a Trønder? So we have gone from being the city with most rain per year in Europe to a touch of Sahara? If that had only been the case....
Title: São Paulo (the town)
Post by: johnny.rhodes on November 16, 2006, 17:10:53 PM
We have our particular differences on our brothers from other towns, too. Rio de Janeiro, for example. They hate us, we hate them. They have beach, we have... Rain and polluted rivers.

That's ok, because we win all the championships and they are being relegated every year.

About violence, last year a Flamengo fan killed a Botafogo supporter with a scythe. Yes, it's shocking.

Do you know where I can find more videos on Brann goals?

Here is a single video on SPFC (I know, enough is enough): http://fifa.entriq.com/fifa.html?w=480&h=360&startupurl=mms://fifa.lbwa.verio.net/fifa/match_7_500.wmv&startup=%20Sao%20Paulo%201:0%20Liverpool#

Funny to see an argument between "trønders" and "bergensere"....in english.
I'm pretty sure that both out cities seem rather small and rural compared to sao paulo.

I actually have a couple of friends from sao paulo at my univiersity, and of course, they love football (i refuse to call it soccer). one of them supports corhintians and the other one supports sao paulo. Anyways, the were telling me that you couldn't go to the games alone because then you were in great danger of being robbed, beaten up etc. That is messed up. Kinda like "felt z at our games." hehe, just joking.  I was talking to my spanish teacher from Chile about the football violence in South America, and she believes that all the violence at the games comes from people who are poor and/or opressed letting all their frustration out while attending the games. But you johnny, probably know more about this, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Sad but true. What the gangs do in New York is multiplied by this Organizadas, that uses the teams and situations to steal and sell drugs. OF course is a minimal part of them, but they exist and destroy the intentions of ordinary people about watching games on the stadium.

Our first toy is a ball. We play at school, on the streets, at home, video game(I play with SK Brann, of course). Our stadiums are old and falling apart, but we don't care. We don't have snow storm, but we have our little problems.

Må jo nesten være det siden denne brasilianeren har klart å registrere seg.
Noen som har tenkt på det?

You forgot to mention Vasco da Gama, also 4 times winner. Flamengo has a fight against our league manager, CBF, because he also won the '87 league, so he is considered by many a 5 times winner... Our football is very well administrated, as you can see.

Quote from: "Erlend"hey johnny, how many guys does the sao paolo stadium take?  could you give us some numbers on how many people usually take the trip there.  Brann Stadion right now has a capacity of about 13000, because we are building out, and this year we had an average of about 16800 people there.  When they are finished buildning out, it will be a beautiful stadium with a capacity of 20000.

Awesome! Almost the whole population of Trondheim city fits in that stadium xD

Post by: johnny.rhodes on November 24, 2006, 22:30:16 PM
Maracanã is an old stadium, it's not allowed to sell too many tickets there now... About 110.000, at maximum. Historical books says that at Brasil vs Uruguay, 1950 world cup final, was something like 210.000 people crying at the end of the game...

Because of FIFA rules, the stadium changed a lot.

The're were mostly standing places in the old times, now have seats only.
Thank's Corran, I understand nothing but the basic in norwegian, but I'm studying. Hell of a hard language to learn, but equally beatiful...

Link to 360 degree panorama (http://www.bt.no/sport/article318408.ece)

On this news-page in one of our local newspapers, they have made an interactive Quicktime-presantation. On the picture appering in the article you can click and drag to rotate the stadium.

One of the long-sides is under construction. The old one was demolished after this season. The other long-side will be demolished after next season, to make room for a new one, if things goes as planned.

Maiden's 250.000 audience gig was not in Maracanã, it was in Cidade do Rock, the City of Rock. http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/5201/vistaerea24ou.jpg.
The DVD actually shows Steve and Janick at maracanã watching brazilian league 2000 final match, Vasco vs São Caetano, in 2001.
A-ha 198.000 show was in maracanã indeed... But the stage and most of audience was on the field.
